We would like to announce that ODF Myanmar has chosen, as the place for 2013-May (37th monthly) donation plan, “Yadanar Mon Youth Academy” monastic education centre located in Taung Yin, Kyaukphyu township, Rakhine State, Myanmar.

It was established as an official monastic education center in 2011. Under the guidance of the Venerable Sayadaw U ZaWaNa , the school is the place where the nearby poor children are being provided with educational aids. For 2012-2-13 academic year, the school took care of total 72 students- 37 for primary, 28 for secondary and 8 for high school.

In Myanmar, the Buddhist monastic education system takes responsibility for some portions of the government education system during recent years, just the same way it took full responsibility for the national education in the past.

Therefore, we would like to encourage our friends and donors, who are willing to offer hands as much as they can to those in need, to cooperate with us in contributing for 2013-May donation.

ျမန္မာႏိုင္ငံတြင္ ေရွးေခတ္ ဘုန္းေတာ္ၾကီးေက်ာင္း ပညာေရးသည္ အမ်ိဳးသား ပညာေရးကို  တာဝန္ကို အျပည့္အဝ ယူခဲ့သလို ယခုေခတ္ ဘုန္းေတာ္ၾကီးေက်ာင္းမ်ားသည္လည္း ႏိုင္ငံေတာ္ ပညာေရး၏ တစ္စိတ္တစ္ေဒသကို တာဝန္ယူလ်က္ရွိပါသည္။ မိဘမဲ့ကေလးမ်ား၏ အေျခခံလိုအပ္ခ်က္မ်ားျဖစ္ေသာ စားဝတ္ေနေရး အျပင္ ပညာေရးကိုပါ တြဲဖက္ ေထာက္ပံ့ေပးေသာ ေက်ာင္းမ်ားသည္ အထူးအေရးပါလွပါသည္။

ထို႔အတြက္ေၾကာင့္ အဆိုပါလိုအပ္ခ်က္မ်ားအား တစ္ဖက္တစ္လမ္းမွ အားျဖည့္ကူညီလိုသူ မိတ္ေဆြမ်ား ၊ အလွဴရွင္မ်ားအား မိမိတို႔ႏွင့္ လက္တြဲ၍ ၂၀၁၃ ခုႏွစ္ ေမလ အလွဴတြင္ ဝိုင္းဝန္းကူညီၾကရန္ တိုက္တြန္းႏိႈးေဆာ္အပ္ပါသည္။

2013 – February Donation Event (35th monthly donation)

As the donation plan for 2013 February (35th monthly donation plan), ODF Myanmar has contributed 1,000,000 Kyats to Yadanar Pon Yate Nyein Monastic Education center which was established as the orphanage in 1992 at Thu Mingalar Road, West Kyite Ka San Quarter, Thin Gan Kyoon Township, Yangon.

Please be informed that from the total amount of donation we could raise for February donation plan (1641 SGD), we contributed 1428 SGD (1,000,000 Kyats) for Yadanar Pon Yate Nyein Monastic Education center and 213 SGD to Meikhtila as an emergency donation.

With the guidance of the Abbot Sayardaw U Margainda, the school not only takes care of poor and orphaned children but also provides basic living necessities and education aids to them. According to 2011-2012 academic year, the school took care of total 103 students.

Since our donation could assist in both basic living necessities of orphans and education which plays vital role for the future of our country, we would like to give our warm regards and appreciation to our donors, ODF volunteers and our friends who managed the donation event on behalf of ODF Myanmar.

အဆိုပါ ရတနာပံုရိပ္ျငိမ္ေက်ာင္းသည္ ေက်ာင္းအုပ္ဆရာေတာ္ၾကီး ဆရာေတာ္ ဦးမာဃိႏၵ၏ ၾကီးၾကပ္ကြပ္ကဲမႈျဖင့္ ဆင္းရဲႏြမ္းပါးသူမ်ား ၊ မိဘမဲ႔ကေလးမ်ားအတြက္ အေျခခံလိုအပ္ခ်က္မ်ားအျပင္ ပညာေရးကိုပါ ျဖည့္ဆည္းေပးေနေသာ ေက်ာင္းတစ္ေက်ာင္းျဖစ္ျပီး ၂၀၁၁ -၂၀၁၂ ပညာသင္ႏွစ္အတြက္ ေက်ာင္းသားေက်ာင္းသူ စုစုေပါင္း ၁၀၃ ဦး  အား  ပညာသင္ၾကားေပးခဲ့ပါသည္။

As the donation plan for April, 2013, we do not choose a new place but we will use the collected money for April for constructing brick water reservoir and water pipelines in order to get drinking water at Hpat Yang Gyi Village located in Hopong Township, Taunggyi District, Shan State. That is the very same place we chose for 2013-March plan.

Please be informed that donations will be accepted till 5th May, 2013 (Sunday).

The following is the detailed information about the plan.

As the donation plan for March, 2013 (36th monthly donation), ODF Myanmar has planned to construct brick water reservoir and water pipelines in order to get drinking water at Hpat Yang Gyi Village located in Hopong Township, Taunggyi District, Shan State. Being located on the hillside which is over 4000 feet above sea level and is part of the northern region of Mae Nae mountain range, Hpat Yang Gyi Village is about 41 miles and 3-hour drive away from Taunggyi. Since communication is dependent on earthen road, transportation can be done only by local trucks during rainy season.

There are 73 households in the village and the total population is 364. For drinking water, local people have to mainly depend on stream water from the stream which is 15-min walk from the village and that stream water is not suitable for drinking and cooking since it used to get polluted in rainy season.

As a stream from which water supply can be obtained for the whole year locates about one mile from the village, the village leaders are trying to construct water reservoir and pipelines.

Estimated cost for a brick water tank (with 15′ x 15′ x 6′ in volume to contain 8400 gallons of water) is 300,000 Kyats and that for pipeline is 690,000 Kyats. Therefore, it is estimated that the total cost would be 1,000,000 Kyats (USD 1,200). The tank would be able to contain water which is sufficient for two-day supply for the whole village.

Since drinking water is crucial for survival of humans, we would like to encourage our donors and friends to cooperate with ODF Myanmar to assist as much as you can in order to get clear drinking water for villagers from Hpat Yang Gyi Village which locates in such hardly reachable area.

အဆိုပါရြာတြင္ အိမ္ေထာင္စု (၇၃) စု ရွိၿပီး စုစုေပါင္းဦးေရမွာ (၃၆၄)ေယာက္ ၿဖစ္ပါသည္။ ေဒသခံမ်ားမွာ ေသာက္သံုးေရအတြက္ (၁၅) မိနစ္ခန္႔ လမ္းေလွ်ာက္သြားရေသာ ေခ်ာင္းမွ ေခ်ာင္းေရကို အဓိကအားထားရၿပီး ထိုေရမွာလဲ မိုးတြင္းကာလမ်ားတြင္ ညစ္ညမ္းေလ့ရွိသၿဖင့္ ေသာက္သံုးရန္ႏွင့္ ခ်က္ၿပဳတ္ရန္အတြက္ မသင့္ေလ်ာ္ပါ။

ရြာႏွင့္ တစ္မိုင္ေက်ာ္ကြာေဝးေသာ ေခ်ာင္းတစ္ေခ်ာင္းမွာ တစ္ႏွစ္ပတ္လံုး ေရရရွိႏိုင္သၿဖင့္ ေက်းရြာလူၾကီးမ်ားမွ ဦးေဆာင္၍ ေရေလွာင္ကန္တည္ေဆာက္ေရးႏွင့္ ေရပိုက္မ်ားသြယ္တန္းေရးအတြက္ ၾကိဳးစားေနသည္ဟု သိရပါသည္။

One Dollar Fund – Myanmar (ODF Myanamr) 3rd Anniversary _ 2013-Feb-16

On the day of February 16, 2013, One Dollar Fund – Myanmar (ODF Myanmar) turned three years old.

During the past three years, we could collect and contribute 13157 SGD in 2010, 31717 SGD in 2011 and 35223 SGD in 2013, making the total amount of SGD 80099 for three years!

Through the years from 2010 to 2012, we could make donations in basic necessaries for 4 times, in education for 23 times, in health care for 4 time, in water donation for 4 times and in emergency cases for 6 times (2 times for flood occurrence, 1 time for earthquake outbreak, 1 time for water shortage, 1 time for massive explosion and conflagration, and 1 time for Rakhine State).

ODF Myanmar has offered helping hands in various parts of Myanmar; 18 times in Yangon Division, 6 times in Shan State, 5 times in Mandalay Division, 2 times in Mon State, 2 times in Bago Division, 2 times in Magway Division, 1 time in Kachin State and 1 time in Rakhine State respectively.

Moreover, we have chosen Tate Khar Yarma nunnery as the place to focus our long term assistance project and contributed assistance such as providing crochet and knitting lessons for nuns and girls, giving salaries for teachers from the education center opened at the nunnery for 2012-2013 academic year and offering teachers training courses for teachers.

Therefore, with splendid pleasure, we would like to pass our passionate appreciation to all the generous donors around the world, the official ODF volunteers who actively involved in every donation plan, the ground teams members who managed to make sure all donations go smoothly and successfully, our friends who never failed to provide necessary advice and voluntary participation, the admin team members who never hesitated to take obligatory tasks and all thankworthy persons who helped around in giving necessary aids for achieving not only the monthly donations which were targeted to promote education and health care but also the emergency donations during three years.

Humanitarian response to Meiktila

Dear all,

We would like to inform that ODF Myanmar, on behalf of all donors, has made donations on April 5, 2013 to the Department of Social Welfare in order to help the local sufferers from the purportedly religious riot which occurred in Meiktila.

Please be informed that we have donated 409 SGD from emergency funds, SDG 250 which we collected from March 29 to 31 and 262,500 Kyats from our friends and donors from Yangon, Mandalay and Meiktila.

Therefore, we would like to say our hearty appreciation to all of our donors, volunteers and friends who participated in this contribution (850,000 Kyats in total) to assist everyone regardless of race or religion.

2013-March Donation Plan (36th monthly donation)

As the donation plan for March, 2013 (36th monthly donation), ODF Myanmar has planned to construct brick water reservoir and water pipelines in order to get drinking water at Hpat Yang Gyi Village located in Hopong Township, Taunggyi District, Shan State. Being located on the hillside which is over 4000 feet above sea level and is part of the northern region of Mae Nae mountain range, Hpat Yang Gyi Village is about 41 miles and 3-hour drive away from Taunggyi. Since communication is dependent on earthen road, transportation can be done only by local trucks during rainy season.

There are 73 households in the village and the total population is 364. For drinking water, local people have to mainly depend on stream water from the stream which is 15-min walk from the village and that stream water is not suitable for drinking and cooking since it used to get polluted in rainy season.

As a stream from which water supply can be obtained for the whole year locates about one mile from the village, the village leaders are trying to construct water reservoir and pipelines.

Estimated cost for a brick water tank (with 15′ x 15′ x 6′ in volume to contain 8400 gallons of water) is 300,000 Kyats and that for pipeline is 690,000 Kyats. Therefore, it is estimated that the total cost would be 1,000,000 Kyats (USD 1,200). The tank would be able to contain water which is sufficient for two-day supply for the whole village.

Since drinking water is crucial for survival of humans, we would like to encourage our donors and friends to cooperate with ODF Myanmar to assist as much as you can in order to get clear drinking water for villagers from Hpat Yang Gyi Village which locates in such hardly reachable area.

အဆိုပါရြာတြင္ အိမ္ေထာင္စု (၇၃) စု ရွိၿပီး စုစုေပါင္းဦးေရမွာ (၃၆၄)ေယာက္ ၿဖစ္ပါသည္။ ေဒသခံမ်ားမွာ ေသာက္သံုးေရအတြက္ (၁၅) မိနစ္ခန္႔ လမ္းေလွ်ာက္သြားရေသာ ေခ်ာင္းမွ ေခ်ာင္းေရကို အဓိကအားထားရၿပီး ထိုေရမွာလဲ မိုးတြင္းကာလမ်ားတြင္ ညစ္ညမ္းေလ့ရွိသၿဖင့္ ေသာက္သံုးရန္ႏွင့္ ခ်က္ၿပဳတ္ရန္အတြက္ မသင့္ေလ်ာ္ပါ။

Hello everyone,

We would like to announce that ODF Myanmar has chosen, as the place for 2013-February (35th monthly) donation plan, Yadanar Pon Yate Nyein Monastic Education Center. Being established at the orphanage in 1992, the place is located at Thu Mingalar Road, West Kyite Ka San Quarter, Thin Gan Kyoon Township, Yangon.

Under the guidance of the Abbot Sayardaw U Margainda, the school is the place where poor and orphaned children are being provided both basic living necessities and educational aids. For 2011-2012 academic year, the school took care of total 103 students.

In Myanmar, the Buddhist monastic education system takes responsibility for some portions of the government education system during recent years, just the same way it took full responsibility for the national education in the past.

Therefore, we would like to encourage our friends, who are willing to offer hands as much as they can to those in need, to cooperate with us in contributing for 2013-February donation.

Donation Event for 2012-December(33rd Monthly Donation)

Mingalaba!

In order to make contribution at the training school for girls which is located at 49, Malika Road, Mayangone Township as the donation plan for 2012-December (33rd monthly donation), we could raise 1440 SGD (1,000,000 Kyats) in total.

ODF Myanmar, on behalf of all the donors, made contribution on February 6, 2013. The school is the place which is under the Department of Social Welfare and it receives some financial aids from the government yet it is rarely reachable by personal donors.

The girls who are being looked after at the training school are the ones abandoned at hospitals and on streets and educational expense for the 9th Standard and the 10th Standard students from the school costs about 800,000 Kyats per month.

After making our first donation in 2010-May, we could contributed to the place in2012-December as the second time.

Since we provided assistance as much as we could not only for basic living necessities of the girls but also for the education which plays vital role in the future of the country, therefore, we would like to send this warm thank-you note to all the donors, ODF Myanmar member and Ma Kay Khine Thu who went to the place to make donation on behalf of our team.

Let us announce that ODF Myanmar has decided to donate desks and chairs to Basic Education High School of Mong Khote which is located in Mong Hsat Division, Eastern Shan State as the donation plan for January, 2013 (34th monthly donation).

For 2012-2013 academic year, the school has total 232 students ranging from primary to high school level.

According to the data sent from the headmaster, the estimated expense for a set of desk and chair costs about 26,000 Kyats. Currently, the school is in need of 25 desk and chair sets and blackboards.

Therefore, we would like to encourage our friends and donors to cooperate with us in contributing as much as we can for the sake of education which is the vital importance of the future of the country.
