Donation Event for 2012-March(MD-24)

We are very pleased to announce that ODF Myanmar has donated 1,800,000 Kyats (2656 SGD + 80000 Kyats contributed by Ma Soe Soe Kyi and friends) to “Yadanar Aung Myin” Orphanage located at Bone Pyan Monastery, Pyi Gyi Tagoon Township,Mandalay as the place for 2012-March donation plan on 29-April-2012.

“Yadanar Aung Myin” is a boys’ orphanage which was established to look after orphans from different ethnic groups and the Abbot has been taking care of 122 students: 5 university students including one post-graduate student who is studying at Institute of Technology, 7 infants, 2 preschool students, 76 primary school students, 26 secondary school students and 6 high school students.

Since it is not a monastic education center, students are sent to government high schools and primary schools for education.

We would like to express our gratitude and thanks to, for the successful donation to that orphanage where the education aid to the orphans are vigorously provided, all the donors who contributed physical help, pieces of advice and cash, ODF volunteers, Admin Team members, Ma Me Me Htun who helped us manage to plan the donation event and Ma Soe Soe Kyi and friends who assisted in arranging the event. ေက်ာင္းသားဦးေရ (၁၂၂)ေယာက္႐ွိသည့္ တိုင္းရင္းသားမိဘမဲ႕ အမ်ိဳးသားေက်ာင္း၏ နာယကဆရာေတာ္မွာ ဘဒၵႏၱေမဓာဝံသ (ဓမၼာစရိယ) ျဖစ္ျပီး ထိုေက်ာင္းတြင္ နည္းပညာတကၠသိုလ္( M.E ) တက္ေရာက္ ေနေသာ ေက်ာင္းသားတစ္ဦးအပါအဝင္ တကၠသိုလ္ေက်ာင္းသား (၅)ဦး၊ ႏို႕စို႕အရြယ္(၇)ဦး၊ မူႀကိဳေက်ာင္းသား(၂)ဦး၊ မူလတန္းကေလး(၇၆)ဦး၊ အလယ္တန္းကေလး(၂၆)ဦး၊ အထက္တန္းကေလး(၆)ဦး ရွိပါသည္။

အဆိုပါေက်ာင္းသည္ ဘုန္းေတာ္ႀကီးပညာသင္ေက်ာင္းမဟုတ္သည့္အတြက္ ေက်ာင္းသားမ်ားကို အစိုးအထက္တန္းေက်ာင္း၊ မူလတန္းေက်ာင္းသို႕ပို႔၍ ပညာသင္ၾကားေစသည္ဟုလည္း သိရပါသည္။

Donation Plan for 2012-April(MD-25)

Dear honored donors,

We would like to announce that ODF Myanmar has selected Daw Kyi + Daw Nge Parahita Training School which is located at No.77/8, Zaw Ti Ka Street, Yay Aye Kwin Yat, Taunggyi as the venue for 2012-April donation plan.

Currently, the school is taking care of 128 students who are aged between 5-10 years. Children are sent to nearby high schools for education and the educational expense for 2011-2012 academic year was nearly 75 lakhs. Stationary and clothing to supply the children for the whole year are procured during summer holidays. Everyday, the orphanage has to spend about 54 kg of rice to feed the children.

Since the school is needing assistance in nurturing the children, ODF Myanmar has decided to offer a hand to the place as the 25th monthly donation plan. Therefore, we would like to encourage our generous donors to join with us as usual to make contributions to such a needy place. Donations for Daw Kyi + Daw Nge Parahita Training School will be collected till 12th May, 2012.

အဆိုပါေက်ာင္းမွာ ေက်ာင္းသားဦးေရ (၁၂၈)ေယာက္အား ေကၽြးေမြးေစာင္႔ေရွာက္ထား၍ အစိုးရေက်ာင္းမ်ားတြင္ ပညာသင္ၾကားေပးေနျပီး ေက်ာင္းသားေက်ာင္းသူအမ်ားစုမွာ ၅  ႏွစ္မွ ၁၀ ႏွစ္ အရြယ္ရွိသည္ဟု သိရပါတယ္။ ၂၀၁၁-၂၀၁၂ ပညာသင္ႏွစ္အတြက္ ပညာသင္စားရိတ္မွာ ျမန္မာက်ပ္ေငြ ၇၅ သိန္းခန္႔ရွိပါတယ္။ ေက်ာင္းသားေက်ာင္းသူ အားလံုးအတြက္ တစ္ရက္လွ်င္ ဆန္တစ္တင္းခြဲခန္႔ ကုန္ပါတယ္။ ေက်ာင္းသံုးပစၥည္း ၊စာေရးကိရိယာ ၊ အဝတ္အစား စသည္မ်ားကို ေႏြရာသီေက်ာင္းပိတ္ရက္တြင္  ဝယ္ယူစုေဆာင္းထားေလ့ရွိသည္ဟုလည္း သိရွိရပါတယ္။

Let us share the splendid news that ODF Myanmar could raise SGD 3180 as the 23rd monthly donation plan (2012-February donation) in order to make contributions to “Aung Taw Mu” parahita and monastic education center located in Myitkyina township, Kachin State. Together with the rest of collected funds from the 22nd monthly donation plan, total of SGD 3692 (2,360,100 Kyats) was donated. Since the monastery is the place which provides free education for the orphans and impoverished children from nearby places and which is not much reachable by the donors, we are very delighted for such a milestone we could establish.

The list of the students who are given schooling at the monastery are as follow:

1st – 5th Standard: 107
6th Standard: 2
7th Standard: 2
9th Standard: 2
10th Standard: 2

The total number of students at the school is 115. There are twelve novices and fourteen monks, including the Abbot. Currently, two monks and five teachers are in charge of teaching the children. Monastery has to spend total of 150,000 – 200,000 Kyats per month to give salary to  five teachers (i.e. 35000-40000 Kyats for each).

Therefore, we are writing this thank-you note to convey our deep appreciation to all the donors who contributed physical help, pieces of advice and cash, ODF volunteers, Admin Team members and the family of Ma Soe Soe Kyi and Ma Soe Soe Khin who helped in managing everything to arrange a donation event at “Aung Taw Mu” parahita and monastic education center, the place on which many needy children are depend for education.

It is a boys’ orphanage which was established to look after orphans from different ethnic groups and the Abbot has been taking care of 122 students: 5 university students including one post-graduate student who is studying at Institute of Technology, 7 infants, 2 preschool students, 76 primary school students, 26 secondary school students and 6 high school students.

Since it is not a monastic education center, students are sent to government high schools and primary schools for education. Infants are taken care by elder students and monks while preschool students are sent to nearby preschools. Elder students from the monastery are in charge to make lunch boxes for younger students and to send them to schools by noon.

On the days when there are donors, children are fed from the contributions made by those donors and on the days when there are no such donors, they are fed from the meals offered to the monks by local people. Estimated daily expense for food is approximately 55 kilograms of rice and 60,000 Kyats.

Since the monastery is in the situation of requiring an assistance to feed the children at the moment, we would like to encourage our donors to collaborate with ODF Myanmar in offering helping hands to such a needy place as usual.

According to the mission of ODF Myanmar to assist as much as possible in promoting health care, education and the quality of life of people from Myanmar, we could donate a defibrillator to the general ward at West Yangon General Hospital, Yangon as our January-2012 donation with the help of our generous donors. The price of the defibrillator is 3210 SGD including tax.

It is the automated external defibrillator (AED Plus) which is designed and manufactured by the American-based company named Zoll.

Therefore, we would like to convey our warmest thanks to our donors for joining us in making it possible to donate a defibrillator which is essential to save lives of patients in case of an emergency.

Since defibrillators are needed for health care at many hospitals, especially at the ones where they are required for trainee doctors as learning aids, we are very pleased to have a chance to show our gratitude towards ODF Myanmar donors for such generosity.

Help us raise funds for orphans & emergency cases

Dear everyone,

We hope, by this time, many people have already known that ODF Myanmar has been trying its best to improve the health, education and quality of life of people from Myanmar.

As the celebration of the 2nd anniversary of ODF Myanmar (One-Dollar Fund Myanmar) which was on February 16, 2012, we have arranged plans to raise funds to contribute donations for orphans and emergency cases by selling T-shirts, coffee mugs and poem and story books which are dedicated to improve general knowledge and wisdom of children aged four through ten years.

ODF Myanmar will sell 200 T-shirts, 50 coffee mugs and 1000 books to donors with following prices:

23 SGD (15,000 Kyats) per T-shirt,

12 SGD (7500 Kyats) per coffee mug and

5 SGD (3,000 Kyats) per poem and story book named “Thar Thar Yar Yar Doe KaBar” which is the collection of scripts from different authors such as Maung Maung, Nyein Soe Thu, Mar Yay Shin, May Dar Wi and Hana San with the collaboration of artworks from cover designer Par Si Tuu and artists Cartoon Htay Win Zaw and Maung Maung San.

Please be informed that funds to make T-shirt, coffee mugs and books were raised by volunteer team members of ODF Myanmar.

We will start selling T-shirts and coffee mugs in April, 2012 in Singapore and we will announce the place and time soon. Those who want to pre-order T-shirts and coffee mugs can do so by contacting to admin@odfmyanmar.org or volunteers. For donors from Myanmar, we will send the items to Yangon according to the pre-orders.

Books have been sold since March 18, 2012 and donors from Myanmar can contribute the books to the desired orphanages by their own plan or via ODF Myanmar. Donation event for 2011-December (MD-21)

Dear honored donors,

With a supreme pleasure, we would like to inform that we have contributed collected funds (1,500,000 Kyats out of 1,794,000 Kyats)  to the school for the blind located near Ma Har Ant Htoo Kan Thar Pagoda in Pyin Oo Lwin as our December-2011 donation.

The school is the place where 136 students are being taken care and given trainings on Braille language, teachings of Buddha, academic education (from kindergarten to university), astrology, music, handicrafts (crochet, knitting, etc) and reflexology (Burmese, Japanese).

The school has hired a teacher to give computer lessons to the students with the help of specific software made for the blind.

Therefore, ODF Myanmar team would like to share to our donors about a noble donation that has been successfully made to uplift the lives of blind students.

We are also anticipating to collaborate with our donors in order to contribute more to the needy places in future. Thank you.

Donation Plan for 2012-February(MD-23)

We would like to announce that “Aung Taw Mu” parahita and monastic education center in Myitkyina township, Kachin state has been selected  for the 23rd monthly donation plan (2012-February donation) of ODF Myanmar. It is the place where the orphans and impoverished kids from nearby places are given schooling as day students and the orphaned boys are being looked after at the school as boarding students.

The total number of students is 115, excluding twelve novices and fourteen monks. They have seven teachers (five teachers and two monks) and the salary for each teacher is 35000-40000 Myanmar Kyats.

We would like to inform, therefore, that ODF Myanmar will provide the helping hands to Aung Taw Mu monastic education center where free education is given to the orphans and the kids from the local area.

Donation Event for ED-05

Dear honored donors,

Let us share the great news that we collected 8085 SGD and 700,000 Kyats (total 5,744,800 Kyats) to assist injured victims and left-behind family members of killed victims caused by the massive explosion and fire that occurred early 29th December, 2011 at Myanmar’s commercial hub in Mingalar Taung Nyunt Township, Yangon.

On 17-January-2012, donations on behalf of ODF Myanmar donors have made by Ma Hana San and Ma Sanda Hlaing by contributing 520,000 Kyats each to left-behind families of the five firefighters who gave their lives in the line of duty, 200,000 Kyats to the injured fire captain and 1,000,000 Kyats to the injured firefighters. The total donated amount is 3,800,000 Kyats.

Please be informed that we have saved the rest of the collected donations in the bank as an emergency fund.

Therefore, we would like to send our warmest thanks to our honorable donors around the world who made generous contributions, our friends and other thankworthy persons who helped around in giving necessary aids to left-behind family members of firefighters and victims who were killed by the explosion and fire.
